I’m Marcellus Hammond, a Nashville-based painter and mixed-media artist creating layered work centered around memory, ambition, technology, and human connection.

Using paint, textiles, found materials, and layered surfaces, I create pieces that move between portraiture and abstraction—often exploring the emotional tension between connection and disconnection, clarity and distraction, growth and uncertainty.

A lot of the work begins with ordinary moments, people, or environments before shifting into something more emotional and psychological. I’m interested in the hidden weight people carry and the ways cities, media, technology, and everyday life shape how we see ourselves and each other.

Whether through paintings, murals, installations, or community-based projects, my goal is to create work that feels emotionally present, layered, and worth spending time with.
